Bites Beyond Borders was founded by Manya Mohan, who has been volunteering to fight food insecurity since elementary school. After moving to Brentwood, she noticed there were no youth-led initiatives addressing food insecurity in the community, and she wanted to change that. Starting entirely on her own, Manya spent her lunch periods knocking on teachers’ doors, searching for someone willing to support her vision. After countless “no’s,” she kept going. That persistence became the foundation of Bites Beyond Borders. Today, we have raised over $4,000, engaged more than 250 community volunteers, and helped provide food to over 18,000 people internationally. We’ve also helped pack warm meals for over 1,000 homeless veterans and donated more than 1,200 bottles to support veterans experiencing homelessness. We’re now working to expand our impact through local food pantries and a project focused on distributing food and basic necessities to villages in India. You can also find us around the community at the weekly farmers market, Antioch expos, Brentwood Day of Service, and other local events. We fundraise, share our mission, and love meeting the people who make our community so special.
This is just the beginning.
